10:30am Saturday 18th February 2012
AN entry of 45 teams is expected at the South Warwickshire and District Summer League’s annual meeting next Tuesday.
Chiefs will confirm the competition remains at six divisions at the meeting, which will run from 7.30pm at the old Royal British Legion Club, now the Crown, Bidford-on- Avon.
The men’s doubles league covers Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.
There will be an inter-league charity cup final on Sunday, September 2, between the summer and winter winners at Alcester Tennis Club.
A junior league operates for a ninth season and begins next month.
It has maintained last year’s record increase in the number of teams which had been from 16 to 24 sides from 16 clubs , which is then divided into six new pools.
The league are looking for a new sponsor at the annual meeting, having lost Widney Sports.
All clubs entered for 2012 are required under the rules to send a representative and free refreshments will be supplied afterwards.
The summer competition will donate £100 main prize to a charity chosen by the team who wins the 11th charity cup final.
League president Tony King, of Alcester, has promised financial backing for the charity and junior finals. The ball sponsors for the games will again be Inspire2Coach.
