Get set for Tewkesbury Triathlon

12:30pm Thursday 14th May 2009

NOW well established on the local and UK Triathlon calendar, this Sunday (May 17) sees Tewkesbury Triathlon Club hosting their annual Sprint Triathlon in the town.

Focused on a 400m swim, 24km bike section and a (two-lap) 5km total run, this sprint format event is the perfect way to warm-up for your season ahead or perhaps have a taster of Triathlon.

With a start time of 4pm, registration between 1pm and 3pm, the Triathlon starts at Cascades pool in Tewkesbury where entrants will be marshalled for 16 lengths before making there way out to the bike racking area just outside the pool. From there they will bike ride around the roads heading up to Bredon and beyond before returning for two laps around the grounds of the Abbey.

Race organiser Roddy Gosden said: “This year we are looking to have a very busy race with over 170 confirmed entries, more than last year.

"However, we can still take a few more people before the event and if you are new to the sport, then just head into the Tewkesbury Triathlon Website for details on how to enter. Beginners are most welcome and the race suits all abilities, but hurry, places are running out fast.”

All competitors get a goody bag upon registration and prizes will be given out for various categories.

If you are interested in entering the event, send an e-mail to contact@tewkesburytriathlon.co.uk and you will be contacted as soon as possible.
